In one of the videos of the incident exclusively obtained by News Medal and time stamped 6/02/21 10:20am, what looked like a lifeless body was seen being dragged by those seeking to help the victim to a hospital for treatment. But with the body merely dangling, one could hear voices in the background lamenting in Yoruba that “this one is dead”.
Another victim could be seen in another video moving dizzily with a badly damaged mouth dripping blood. Our sources claim that the victim died some time after.
In one of the videos, policemen could be seen being pelted with stones and sticks ostensibly from the Okada riders while the policemen responded by shooting towards the direction the sticks and stones were coming from.
Our sources said the deadly clash started when policemen seized several motorcycles belonging to the Okada riders for operating in areas where the State government had banned them from operating.
Efforts by News Medal to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer for comments on the matter did not yield results before going to press.
However, calm is reported to have returned to the area.
