Prof. Gregory Ibe salutes Ikpeazu’s efforts in SME development in Abia State

The Chancellor and founder of Gregory University Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe has saluted the tireless efforts of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in growing Small & Medium Scale Entreprise (SME) in the State.
Prof. Ibe made his feelings known during an interview with newsmen in his hometown, Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area. He said what the Governor has done is “a sense of belonging, so it will be difficult for the people of Aba and Aba made products not to have the signer to market our products. The Governor dresses almost all the time in Made in Aba so, he is also an ambassador of Made in Aba, whether he is in government or outside the government. So, the history of Abia State in terms of Made in Aba will not be written without his name.”
According to him, “we have checked it, we believe that these successes will have a manifold gain to our State that is more of entrepreneurial in nature” He said Governor Ikpeazu’s ingenuity in attracting investors to the State led to the ranking of the Abia by National Bureau of Statistics as the third best in foreign direct investment in 2020. Prof. Ibe said “the performance of our Governor, bearing in mind the available of money in his kitty to handle the State” is commendable, adding that when fully completed, the portharcourt road would fully open up Aba. Prof. Ibe, a PDP stalwart assured that “we are ready to keep supporting the Governor to make sure that our party becomes number one and maintain the number one lead”
The Chancellor of Gregory University, who also is a Consultant of ECOWAS Commission for 15 countries emphasized the need for Abians to come back home and invest, revealing that he invested in his hometown and State to contribute to the development of Abia State added that “the more you shy away from your country, your State, the more God is denying you greater opportunities” According to him, ” if God has made you an Abian, the best thing to do is to do something for Abia so that God will keep blessing you. I have chosen to do my things for Abia and I know that what I am doing, God is also blessing me” disclosing that his univisity, Gregory University has employed more that 1000 staff, majority of whom are from Abia State .
Prof. Gregory Ibe who doubles as the Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer, Skill “G” Nigeria limited and supplier of medical equipment including that of molecular laboratory commended Governor Ikpeazu for the management of the covid-19 pandemic in the State. He disclosed that the Governor started Tele health Initiative which he described as a good program. “People phone-in and be able to get treatment”, explaining that “during the pandemic, the whole American government relied more on phone-in as everybody was quarantined, everybody was at home, if you are sick, you call a Doctor. It helped reduced the problems that we had. With Tele health, you are bringing Doctor closer to the population.”
The Chancellor lauded the laying of foundation for a permanent site for College of Health Technology in the State and the Governor’s plans to build more hospitals. He made a case for all to assist in ensuring adequate security is achieved in the State through informing relevant agencies on troubled spots in communities. He commended the active contributions of the privately owned schools in the State towards successes made in education sector in the State.
While appreciating Governor Ikpeazu for his efforts in bringing Enyimba Economic City and his infrastructural developmental strides in Aba, Prof. Ibe called on the citizenry to stop messing up the drainage systems in all the roads built, and stressed on the need for regular scouping and cleaning of the gutters. He added that citizens should be warned through advocacy to maintain and protect what the Governor has initiated in the State.
