Uchenna Erondu, Jnr, In My Mind
How Time Flies! Chief Uchenna Erondu Jnr came in contact with me in 2001 when I served as the first Special Adviser on Sensitization and Mobilization in our God’s Own State of Abia. He was introduced to me by a good friend and a former Member of House of Representatives from Obingwa, Hon Macaulay Obia, Zanza.
In that year, I had appointed him Cordinator for Grassroots’ Mobilization for Obingwa. He had proved to be one of my most effective Cordinators.
Being fresh from the University then, he gave his all to that assignment and, so, endeared himself to me. He saw me as his Master and honestly treated me as such. There was a musical record he had waxed while in the University. He gave me one of its plates and I was fond of playing it in my car.
On many occasions that he came to Umuahia to give me updates on political developments in Obingwa, I had asked him to wait so that we would return to Aba together. According to him, I never took undue advantage of his desire for growth.
At that time, being not God, being not even a diviner, I did not know that Junior, as I fondly call him, would become today’s Big Boy.
Junior’s birthday is today and I wish to felicitate with him and his family. Without any inclination to exaggeration, Junior is a very good boy. Just don’t mind me, Junior is a Man, a big Man for that matter but he will never get annoyed that I call him boy. Embarrassingly, Junior still treats me as his Master.
My earnest prayer is that God that has magnanimously led him this far, would continue to bless, guide and protect him all through his future long life. Happy Birthday!
Okwubunka of Asa.
